Somehow we currently stand in June 2026 despite the fact that 1995 was just a few days ago. This obviously is not true, but talk to any adult about their perceived velocity of time passage and I would guess that they would say time feels like it passes more quickly than when they were younger. There is some science to support this idea. If you feel like years are passing like days and months like minutes, you are not alone.
This idea of time’s increase in velocity is the basis for the lyrics of RomHeadTech’s newest song, “Losing Time”. This is the first RomHeadTech release to feature vocals, which were supplied by the fantastic Iona Kassel and Everday Solaris (Start the Tape). In response to the sync brief that triggered the song, it is heavily inspired by a synthpop classic.
Time is fleeting and no matter how hard we may try to accumulate things, no matter how much time we spend keeping up with our treasures, they are ultimately just as temporary as we are.

I love the tension in the lyrics between preserving things and realizing that none of it can really stop time. The lists, the locked books, the cataloguing, the treasures disappearing — that all speaks to me deeply as someone who spends a lot of emotional energy around physical things, memory, music, and meaning.
The Depeche Mode/Japan atmosphere is clearly there, but it does not feel like imitation. It feels like using that language to say something personal and modern. Iona’s vocal gives it a real human ache, too.
Really strong work. Melancholy, reflective, and quietly uncomfortable in exactly the right way.
